Women of Influence

Join ALLRISE DC for the next installment in our series, Women of Influence (WOI), with Laurie Schaffer, an accomplished government policy maker who, throughout her career, has tackled some of the most significant issues facing our industry.  Laurie has decades of experience at senior levels of government including currently serving as Principal Deputy General Counsel at the Department of the Treasury, at the Federal Reserve Board where she was Deputy General Counsel and again at Treasury, from 2008-11, serving as Assistant General Counsel for Banking and Finance, where she played a critical role in the Administration’s emergency response to the 2008 financial crisis and in the development of the Dodd Frank Act.  Earlier in her career, Laurie served as Deputy Chief of Staff at the House Financial Services Committee where she was instrumental in the 1999 passage of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.  Laurie has also held significant positions in the private sector, including serving as General Counsel at Charles Schwab Bank.
